Building 15

At the heart of the former Gasworks district, Building 15/16 is planned on the footprint of a disused canteen that once served the industrial workers of the area.

Mixed use, Stockholm

Like its predecessor, the new building will utilise its strategic location to offer a social and active node within the new neighbourhood. It is a mixed-use building featuring shops and public functions at street level, with apartments above. The stepped volume allows daylight to reach the rather narrow alleys to the north and south of the building and creates generous private terraces for each apartment.

The facades and load-bearing structure are made of natural grey in-situ concrete. The project is part of the ongoing urban development of the former Gasworks district, for which ThamVidegård is responsible. It encompasses both the restoration and refurbishment of existing industrial structures and the construction of new buildings to form a new regional centre for the northern part of Stockholm.
